Heat wave conditions to persist in Delhi; Monsoon respite for Konkan, parts of Maha

People in the national capital Delhi continue to experience sultry weather conditions as mercury is soaring with every passing day. The minimum temperature recorded today was 28.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal while the maximum yesterday stood at 41.4, two degrees above average. Director Met department Delhi, R. C Vasist told AIR that heat wave conditions are likely to persist in the days ahead. He said the met office will come up with Moonsoon forecast next week.

Our correspondent reports that people in the coastal Konkan and south-central parts of Maharashtra had respite from the sweltering heat as the monsoon hit many parts of the region last Wednesday, a day ahead of its normal schedule. Earlier, south-west monsoon, the key to the agriculture driven trillion-dollar Indian economy, brought showers to Kerala in the beginning of this month, thus bringing much-needed relief to farmers.
