Healthcare workers who took HCQ report side effects: ICMR

<span style="color: #222222;">Indian Council of Medical Research study revealed that many healthcare workers who took Hydroxychloroquine, HCQ reported side effects like abdominal pain, nausea and hypoglycaemia.<br />''<br />''ICMR said that it has been found that healthcare workers having an average age of 35 years took the HCQ and 10 per cent reported abdominal pain, six percent nausea and 1.3 per cent hypoglycaemia. It has also been noticed that around 22 per cent of these health workers have diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory illness and blood pressure. ICMR said that healthcare workers took HCQ as preventive measures.  <br />''<br />''ICMR has said that it is conducting cohort study to evaluate the impact of HCQ as ICMR does not have sufficient evidence base to do the trial. It said that 480 patients will be enrolled for the study and it will continue around two months.</span><br />
