In Rajasthan, normalcy was restored in medical colleges and attached hospitals as resident doctors returned to work after seven days of strike in support of in-service doctors. Their strike was called off last midnight after talks with Health Minister A.A. Khan.Meanwhile, nearly 1500 doctors have so far reported for work in government hospitals as a result of alternate arrangements made by the state government.An equal number of striking in-service doctors have also resumed their duties following which the health services in hospitals is now by and large, under control.The tough stand of government against the striking doctors continues and so far nearly 500 doctors have been arrested under RESMA and 65 have been suspended.The In-service Doctors’ Association has expressed its readiness to return to work in case the government agrees to its demand of withdrawing government’s action against the doctors.The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has again appealed the striking doctors to end their agitation and return to work with the promise that they shall never go on strike again for the cause of humanity.
