Union Health Minister JP Nadda has said, his Ministry is focusing on shifting from sick care to health care units in a bid to address the challenge posed by non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like diabetes and heart attacks. Talking to AIR in Colombo, Mr. Nadda said, facilities have been set up to monitor such cases and take preventive measures through creating awareness.<br/>The Minister was on a three-day visit to Colombo. He had participated in the 69th session of WHO Regional committee meeting where the Colombo declaration on NCDs was adopted.<br/><br/>Earlier today, Mr Nadda led a Yoga session where dozens of people including health ministers of participating nations, delegates and other dignitaries participated. The Minister also expressed happiness that WHO has certified India free of Yaws disease, maternal and neonatal tetanus. He said, the decline in Infant mortality rate and Maternal mortality rate in the country has been faster than world average. Mr Nadda said, the focus has moved to achieving sustainable development goals in health sector and the meeting discussed ways to move forward.
