Health Minister urges for better health care of girl child

The Union Health Minister, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has underlined the need for better health care of girl child to pursue the inclusive agenda of social development.<br/><br/> The Minister was speaking after releasing 'Youth in India: Situation and Needs Study' conducted by International Institute for Population Sciences, in New Delhi on Saturday. <br/><br/>He said that for this objective, his Ministry is in the process of developing an even stronger thrust on feminine health and hygiene through a community-led programme. Expressing concern over early marriage of girls, Mr. Azad said that efforts will be made to set up exclusive forum of adolescent girls in villages and urban slums, to ensure that their multi-dimensional development needs were adequately addressed.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion the Nobel laureate Mr. Amartya Sen said that deprivation and violence towards women call for comprehensive reexamination of values that permeated Indian society. He also addressed the issue of empowering women in great detail.
