Health Minister seeks powers to deal with corruption in MCI

The Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today sought more powers to deal with cases of corruption in Medical Council of India. He announced the setting up of a Task Force for regulating the functioning of both the Medical and Dental Councils of India along with Ayurveda, Unani, Siddhha and other streams of medicines. Dismissing allegations levelled by the opposition, he informed the Rajya Sabha that his ministry has sought advice from the Law Ministry on how to proceed in the case against the MCI President arrested on corruption charges and is awaiting response from it. <br/>
