In Himachal Pradesh, Union Health Minister JP Nadda will launch new Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV) for pneumonia at ESI hospital in Mandi district today. There are over 90 different types of pneumococcal bacteria that causes a range of problems including ear infections and serious chest infections pneumonia. <br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that the vaccine will help the health department control pneumonia and child mortality rate. All the twelve districts of the state would be covered under the PCV while it would be simultaneously launched in six districts of Uttar Pradesh and seventeen districts of Bihar from Ner Chowk through Video Conferencing by Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda. <br/><br/>This vaccine gives protection against 13 types of pneumococcal bacteria which cause pneumococcal disease. The Vaccines have been produced to protect against the types that cause the most disease.
