<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today said that India has witnessed an 85.1 percent decline in malaria cases and an 83.36 percent reduction in deaths during the year from 2015 to 2022. He informed that India was the only high-burden country in South- East Asia region that reported a decline in malaria cases in 2020 as compared to 2019.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">In his virtual address to the Asia Pacific Malaria Leaders Conclave 2023 in New Delhi, Dr Mandaviya said that the country is making rapid progress towards eliminating Malaria by 2030. He said Malaria is not just a public health issue but also a social, economic, and political challenge that requires the cooperation of all stakeholders. In his address, the Health Minister highlighted how India has emerged as a global example for its malaria-elimination strategies. The Minister added that keeping in line with India's G20 Presidency mantra of One Earth, One Family, One Future, New Delhi is committed to sharing its resources, knowledge, and learning with other countries as well in its mission to eliminate Malaria. Dr Mandaviya said that the Malaria elimination programme in India has several components including early diagnosis, complete treatment, surveillance, and behaviour change communication. He also said the ASHA workers have been trained to recognize the signs and symptoms of malaria and respond quickly to the cases. He added that the government's various health initiatives including Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat-Health and Wellness Centres, and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission are contributing immensely towards strengthening India's fight against the disease.</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">Speaking on the occasion, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha also highlighted his government's efforts to fight against Malaria in his state. He said that his government is working for the all-around development of the health sector in Tripura. He added that with the intensified efforts, Tripura can definitely achieve the goal of Malaria elimination by 2030.&nbsp;</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;">&nbsp;</p>''<p style="margin: 0px; text-align: justify;"><span style="color: #222222;">NITI Aayog member V K Paul said that one can not eliminate malaria until they work together across the board. He also stressed the need to embrace the whole government approach to tackle the disease. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan also spoke on the occasion.</span></p>
