Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya reviews heatwave preparedness with affected states, urges them to implement State Action Plans on ground level

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has urged the State governments grappling with heatwave conditions to implement the State Action Plans at the ground level. The Union Health Minister today held a virtual meeting with Health Ministers and senior officers of seven States affected by heat waves. He asked the State governments to provide timely warnings to the people and ensure preventive preparedness to reduce the severe impact of heat waves.<br />''<b> </b><br />''During the meeting, the importance of joint efforts between the Centre and States for effective management of any disaster, including severe heat waves was highlighted. Dr. Mandaviya said, effective disaster response and management is a collaborative work and with coordinated actions between the Centre and States, it can be ensured that there are no deaths due to heat waves. He said, sharing of ideas, expertise, and best practices by States helps in enriching everyone in effectively managing heat-related illness. He has assured full support and assistance to the States to deal with the situation arising out of heatwave conditions.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Yesterday, the Minister chaired a high-level meeting for reviewing public health preparedness regarding heat waves. It was decided that a five-member team of the Health Ministry, the India Meteorological Department, and the National Disaster Management Authority will visit the States which are affected by the heat wave. Currently, Odisha, Chattisgarh, West Bengal, Telangana, Bihar, and Jharkhand are witnessing heat wave conditions.</span>
