Headley, ISI handlers hatched a plot to assassinate Bal Thackeray

Mumbai attacks co-accused David Headley, who scouted Shiv Sena headquarters, testified before a US court that his handlers in Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba was plotting to kill Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray. Giving his testimony on the trial of 26/11 co-accused Tawahhur Rana, Headley, talked about the hatred against Shiv Sena among his Pakistani handlers. 166 people were killed in the November 2008 attack in Mumbai. Headley told the jury how he gave details about the potential landing sites in Mumbai to his Pakistani handlers that included Maj Iqbal of ISI and Sajid Mir of Lashkar-e-Toiba among others. Headley said, Major Iqbal wanted to include Mumbai international airport in the list of targets in the 2008 terror attack. He said, in fact, Major Iqbal expressed his disappointment after coming to know that the Mumbai international airport is not planned to be targetted. Headley said, he was given a list of targets for surveillance in Mumbai which included Taj Hotel, Chabad House, Maharashtra State Police Headquarters and Naval Head station. Headley said he was given GPS and other equipments to take shots of the sites.
