Head of SCAF expected to testify at trial of Mubarak

In Egypt, the head of the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi is expected to testify at the trial of toppled president Hosni Mubarak on Saturday. According to Egypt’s official media Al Ahram, Mubarak, his two sons, former interior minister Habib El-Adly, and six of his assistants are all accused of complicity in the killing of protesters during the Egyptian Revolution.Tantawi is Mubarak’s former defence minister and now heads Egypt’s ruling military council. He was supposed to testify before the Cairo Criminal Court on 11 September but he did not attend due to security concerns.This came after the incidents at the Israeli embassy on 9 September, when some activists attacked the embassy.
