Madras High court Single judge Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar has declined to hear a plea challenging the ban on Eelam Tamil Livelihood Rights Protection Conference. The conference was scheduled to be held in Chennai tomorrow.The judge said the issue is before a division bench and it would not be proper for him to hear the petition. He gave the direction to put the petition before Chief Justice for placing it before a bench.The judge's order came on a petition filed by Organisers TESO, which challenged denial of permission for the conference by the Chennai Police Commissioner citing security reasons. The police ban came hours after the Jayalalithaa Government raised certain objections in Madras High Court yesterday, particularly to the use of the word “Eelam” in the meet's title.DMK chief M Karunanidhi supported TESCO's move to hold the conference.
