HC seeks govt’s clarification on Tejinder’s plea

The Centre was asked today by the Delhi High Court to clarify if the March 5 press release with allegations against former Lt General Tejinder Singh was issued by the Government or by the Army officials in their individual capacity.

The court asked Centre's counsel to seek information from the Defence Ministry and apprise the court of the requisite details by 27th of next month.

It gave the order on criminal writ petition filed by former Lt Genral Singh for directions to the Army Headquarters to withdraw the release. Lt. General Singh contended that the press release issued by senior Army officials, including Army Chief General V K Singh, was defamatory. Meanwhile, the Centre's counsel submitted that the grounds of challenge in the petition are questionable as far as the criminal writ is concerned.

Meanwhile, CBI has received reply of Army Chief Gen V K Singh confirming alleged bribe offer.
