The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday reserved its order till December 1 on which agency should investigate the 2004 fake police encounter of Mumbai college girl Ishrat Jahan and three others.The court is also to decide whether a fresh FIR should be filed in the matter. A Division Bench of Justices Jayant Patel and Abhilasha Kumari concluded the hearing to finalise the agency that would investigate the encounter. The encounter was found to be fake by the High Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT).After the SIT concluded that the four were killed in a staged gunfight and their deaths had occurred prior to the time and place mentioned in the police FIR of June 15, 2004 , the High Court had sought opinion of the petitioners, Gujarat and Central Governments on which agency should probe the case.
