HC refuse to cancel anticipatory bail of Pachauri in sexual harassment case

Delhi High Court has refused to cancel the anticipatory bail granted to former TERI Chief RK Pachauri in a sexual harassment case. The court was hearing the alleged victim's plea seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail to Mr Pachauri. Submissions of both police and Pachauri were made before the court. The Police said that Mr Pachauri is influencing witnesses and misusing the liberty of bail. It also said that he was evasive during interrogation and not co-operating with probe agencies. Mr Pachauri, on the other hand, submitted that there was nothing on record to suggest that he has ever influenced witnesses or any other persons related to the case or interfered in the investigation.

The court, later, said that it will not interfere with the proceedings of the Saket Sessions Court, which is scheduled to hear Mr Pachauri's plea today to rejoin TERI. In February, an FIR was registered against Mr Pachauri by a 29-year-old woman colleague who alleged that he had been sexually harassing her since September 2013. The complainant submitted hundreds of text and WhatsApp messages in support of her claim. Mr Pachauri was granted bail by a Delhi court on 21st March.
