HC issues notice to Centre on plea to extend food security benefits to visually impaired and people with other disabilities

<span style="color: #222222;">The Delhi High Court today issued notice to the Centre on a plea seeking directions to all states and Union Territories to include visually impaired and people with other disabilities under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana or food security scheme. General Secretary of National Federation of the Blind Santosh Kumar Rungta informed the media that the Federation had filed Public Interest Litigation in the Court in this regard.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The plea also sought ensuring at least five per cent beneficiaries of food security scheme under the Act are from categories of persons with disabilities as defined in the Rights of Persons With Disabilities Act 2016.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"> </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Mr Rungta said that this petition will gave the way for providing relief to poor blind and divyang in the matter of getting food grains at subsidised rates and also free ration under Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Kalyan Yojna.</span><br />''
