HC dismisses PIL seeking direction to TN govt to implement lottery ban

The Madras High Courton Tuesday, dismissed a PIL seeking a direction to the Tamil Nadu government to implementand enforce effectively the ban on sale of lotteries. The First Bench Comprising Acting Chief Justice Sathish K Agnihotri and Justice M M Sunderesh while dismissing thepetition filed said that the petition was misconceived and deserves to be dismissed.The petioner contended that though the sale of lottery tickets were banned in the state in 2003, some anti-social elements were selling the tickets in some places.The judges said that when a proper remedy is available under the provisions of law, the petioner filed the PIL seeking publicity.
