The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to submit a status report on the CB-CID or any other probe into the murder of a teenaged girl in a police station in Lakhimpur district. The court has fixed 17th of this month as the next date of hearing.A vacation bench of the court consisting justices S N Shukla and D K Arora passed this order after hearing a Public Interest Litigation seeking direction for a CBI probe into the case. The petitioner has also sought a direction for paying compensation worth 25 lakh rupees to the victim's family and for dismissal of the police personnel, whose name has come up in light in this case. The bench deferred the hearing after advocate-general sought some time to take more stringent action against the guilty policemen. He told the court that the state government has already transferred the investigation into the case to CB-CID and the report is likely to be received in five days.AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that the girl was found hanging from a tree inside the premises of Nighasan Police Station in Lakhimpur district on Friday.
