Taking a serious note of mining near the Air Force station in Jaisalmer, the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday directed the state administration to ensure that no such activity takes place in the prohibited area.A Division Bench directed the state Chief Secretary, the Jaisalmer District Collector and the SP to ensure a ban on mining with immediate effect.Hearing a PIL, Chief Justice Arun Kumar Mishra and Justice Kailash Chandra Joshi said the matter pertained to national security. In case, the illegal mining persisted in the area, the Chief Secretary would be held responsible,they said.
