The Delhi High Court today directed civil aviation regulator DGCA to bring noise levels in and around Indira Gandhi International Airport in accordance with international standards. <br/><br/>The court pulled up the regulatory body, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for seeking two years time to implement the directions and asked it to take steps immediately to bring noise levels in accordance with international standards. <br/><br/>The court passed the order on a batch of petitions filed by local residents and patients and hospitals authorities in Vasant Kunj area for a direction to the government and the airport authority to take steps to reduce noise pollution caused by aircraft on runways 11 and 29. <br/><br/>The DGCA assured the court that all necessary steps were being taken for reducing noise levels and it was holding talks with the aircraft manufacturers for the purpose. It said that instruments have been set up at five locations around the airport to measure the noise levels and a redress call facility has been put in place to address the complaints of the people.
