HC asks Delhi govt not to take coercive steps against DDCA

The Delhi High Court today asked the city government not to take coercive steps against Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), till further orders, with regard to the entertainment tax dues payable by it. <br/><br/>Paving way for Feroz Shah Kotla to host the fourth Test against India and South Africa, the court told the government not to withhold the no objection certificate to DDCA, as the Association will pay one crore rupees. The court asked DDCA to deposit one crore in two installments.<br/><br/>Yesterday, the court had directed South Delhi Municipal Corporation to issue Provisional Occupancy Certificate. The court said, it does not want to penalise the people and players by not holding the match. Earlier, it was reported that Delhi could lose out on hosting the India-South Africa Test since clearance had not been provided by the Delhi government. <br/><br/>DDCA are supposed to pay entertainment tax in excess of 24 crore rupees in order to get clearance for organising the match. The fourth Test is scheduled to start from the 3rd of next month.
