HC asks Centre to send nine Taekwondo players, coach to Incheon

The Delhi High Court today asked the Centre and other agencies to forthwith grant administrative approval to the participation of nine Taekwondo players and their coach at the ongoing Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea. Justice Vibhu Bakhru said that as per the policy, the Centre may foot the bills of players in participating at the Asian Games. However, the Court left it open for the Centre to decline the funding and in such an event, Taekwondo Federation of India will provide the requisite funds. The plea filed by the father of one of the left-out athletes had sought a direction to the Centre and Indian Olympics Association to give administrative approval to the nine players to participate in the Taekwondo competition at the Asian Games.
