<span style="color: #222222;">The High Court in Dhaka today directed Bangladesh government to set up a committee to formulate a guideline to prevent unnecessary caesarean operation at private and public hospitals.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' The committee is to be formed within one month and it will submit its report within six months.<br />'' &nbsp;<br />'' A massive increase in caesarian operation has been reported from Bangladesh in recent years. Between 2016 and 2018, the number of such operations increased by more than 50 per cent.&nbsp;</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' According to the World Health Organisation and UNICEF reports in 2018, 77 per cent of the caesarean operations performed in Bangladesh were unnecessary.&nbsp;<br />'' <br />'' In 2018, close to 8 lakh 60 thousand unnecessary caesarian operations took place in Bangladesh while 3 lakh mothers who were in need of caesarian operation could not avail the opportunity of the life-saving procedure.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Unnecessary caesarean operation puts mothers and babies at risk, increasing the likelihood of infection, excessive bleeding, organ damage and blood clots apart from the economic costs of longer hospitalization.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">&nbsp;</span><br />
