HC asks AFI to hold its election as per guidelines of Sports Ministry

Delhi High Court has asked the Athletic Federation of India, AFI to hold its upcoming election for office bearers as per the recent guidelines of the Sports Ministry. The High Court order came on a petition which alleged that the AFI has been violating various provisions of the Government Sports Code, specially the model election guidelines. The petitioner contended that the AFI also failed to comply with the age and tenure restrictions of its office bearers as mandated by the model election guidelines. A bench of Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw fixed the case for hearing on April 25.
