Hazare says to continue his fast till final response

Noted social activist Anna Hazare's group, spearheading the campaign to press for Lokpal Bill to deal with corruption has sent the final draft to government on the proposed Bill. Hazare said today evening that he will continue his fast till the final response on their demands is received.Earlier, the government announced that a Lokpal bill will be brought in the Monsoon session of Parliament. Sources in the committee said that government proposal says that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will head the committee and noted lawyer Shanti Bushan will be Vice chairman. The Committee will have five members each from the government side and Anna Hazare's civil society activists. Talking to reporters after third round of talks today evening, Swami Agnivesh and Arvind Kejriwal representing the activists told reporters that they had sent a draft to the government earlier in the day and government has given their version of the draft. Ms Kiran Bedi was also part of the team holding discussions with the Union Ministers Kapil Sibal, Veerapa Moily and Salman Khurshid. The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stepped up efforts to resolve the issue since this morning. Dr. Singh, first held discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi, her political secretary Ahmad Patel, HRD Minister Kapil Sibal and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. Later, he had second round of deliberations with senior ministers this afternoon as Anna Hazare declared 'Jail Bharo' agitation from April 13. Prime Minister also briefed the President Pratibha Patil about the efforts being made to resolve the issue.
