Hasina meets EU delegation

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has stressed on the need to form an international committee under the supervision of the United Nations to oversee the impact of global warming on the world. Mrs. Hasina who met a five member delegation of the European Union at her office in Dhaka today also emphasised the need to expedite the rehabilitation of the climate change victims. The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Mr.Abul Kalam Azad said Mrs Hasina sought the support of the European Union to formulate a new legal regime under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change to ensure social, cultural and economic rehabilitation of climate migrants. She also urged the EU to support Bangladesh in setting up an International Climate Adaptation Center in the country. The delegation of Members of European Parliament comprised of Nirj Deva ,of UK, Franzisca Keller form Germany, Noccolo Rinaldi from Italy, Jean Lambert from UK, and John Attard Montalto from Malta. The delegation which is on a three day tour to Bangladesh will also visit various disaster management and climate change projects in the country.<br/><br/>
