Haryana rolls out Rs 8.5-crore for flood-hit farmers

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has rolled out a 8.5-crore rupees package for the farmers in the flood affected areas of the state to provide them relief and ensure resowing of the damaged agricultural fields. <br/><br/>It may be recalled that recent floods has damaged around 2 lakh 85 thousand hectares of crops in Sirsa, Fatehabad, Ambala, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and some parts of Karnal district. <br/><br/>A spokesman of the Agricuture Department said at Chandigarh today that free and subsidised seeds of different crops will be supplied to the farmers under this package and it also include additional supplies of ferstilisers to the farmers. <br/><br/>The state government has decided to supply free of cost mini kits with seeds of alternate crops like toria, hybrid bajra and jowar in the affected areas. <br/><br/>The seeds of hybrid maize, moong and urd will be given at highly subsidized rates. <br/><br/>The affected farmers will also be given seeds of Basmati varieties at subsidised rates to enable them to sow fresh nursery or go in for direct seeding.
