Haryana Police has set up a special juvenile police unit at every police station in Gurgaon district to ensure safety of children.Disclosing this at chandigarh today, Joint Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon, Mr Anil Kumar Rao said that this unit and child welfare officer at the police station would handle cases of juveniles in conflict with law, and look after children who are in need of care and protection. The social worker at the police unit will be the first line of intervention in all such cases.The unit would coordinate and function as a watchdog for providing legal protection to children against all kinds of cruelty, abuse and exploitation, and report instances of non-compliance for legal action.
