Haryana Govt ready for paddy, bajra procurement

Haryana Government has made adequate arrangements for procurement of paddy and bajra during the Kharif Marketing Season 2011-12. The season will commence from October one. Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Mahender Partap Singh today said at Chandigarh that the State Government would make the payments to the farmers within 48-72 hours of the sale of their produce. He said that sufficient cash credit limit for purchase of paddy and bajra is being arranged from Reserve Bank of India. He said that district administrations and the heads of procurement agencies are asked to ensure that the stocks purchased by them were lifted same day.He said that it would also be ensured that paddy and bajra purchased by the agencies were stored properly and kept under safe custody. He said that this year about 48 lakh tonnes of paddy and 2.50 lakh tones of Bajra are expected to arrive in the Mandis. Out of this, about 20 lakh tonnes of paddy might be of Basmati and superior varieties and the remaining about 28 lakh tonnes of levy varieties.
