Haryana Government has included Deaflympics in its Sports Policy so that the Deaflympian medalists enabling them to get cash rewards, jobs and other benefits. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the State Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal at Chandigarh today.The Deaflympics (previously called World Games for the Deaf and International Games for the Deaf) are an International Olympic Committee (IOC) sanctioned event at which deaf athletes compete at an elite level. The Deaflympics are held every four years and are the longest multi-sports event excluding the Olympics. The first games held in Paris in 1924 were also the first ever international sporting event for athletes with a disability.
