In Haryana, residents of Mirchpur and adjoining villages are continuing their dharna demanding a fresh probe into the killing of two Dalits last year after which 98 members of their caste were booked. A heavy police and para-military force had been deployed in Jind and in parts of Hisar as a precautionary measure to prevent any violence.Officials said, a meeting of representatives of 36 different castes appealed to the members of the Jat community to call off their stir as the matter was sub judice. Besides, efforts are made by administrative officials to bring peace and pursue protesters to call off their sit-ins at different places. Traffic on several state highways and national roads passing through Jind was disrupted with bus services remaining paralysed.
