Haryana EC announces schedule for Municipal polls

State Election Commissioner, Haryana, Mr.Dharam Vir today announced the schedule for the 4th Municipal General Elections . Around 20,78,281 voters would exercise their right of franchisein the elections. <br/><br/>Addressing media persons at chandigarhtoday Mr Dharam Vir said that notifications of election programme would be issued today. <br/><br/>The Model code of conduct in respect of the Municipal Election will come into force from today. He said that all the municipal elections would be conducted with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). <br/><br/>The State Election Commission has purchased 5,314 EVMs and remaining EVMs would be taken from the Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana.<br/>He said that nomination papers shall be presented from May 3 to 7 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m and nomination papers would be scrutinized on May 8.<br/><br/>The last date for withdrawal of candidature by a candidate would be May 10. He said that the votes polled will be counted immediately after the polling is closed, at the polling station itself on the same day. <br/><br/>The election result would be declared immediately after the account of ballot papers received from the Presiding Officers of the polling stations of the constituency (Ward) is consolidated by the Returning Officer. <br/><br/>The election process will be completed on May 25.<br/><br/>State Election Commissioner, Haryana, Mr.Dharam Vir today said that those residents of Haryana whose names somehow could not be included in the list of voters for Municipal General Elections, could still apply to the Deputy Commissioner concerned upto April 30 for inclusion of their names. He said that while conducting scrutiny of the voter lists, names of 96448 voters of Faridabad and 23000 voters of Kurukshetra are deleted.
