Haryana Day is being celebrated through out the State. Haryana was carved out of Punjab on this day in 1966. A State-level function under the banner of 'Chak De Haryana, Chak De India' is being organized at Sonipat to honour the sports persons of Haryana for their outstanding performance in the Commonwealth Games. It may be recalled that Haryana had won 30 medals including 17 gold in the Delhi Commonwealth Games.
