Haryana has been selected for the fourth consecutive year for a national award for conservation of energy. This year, the State has been chosen for second prize at national level under the State Designated Agency's category for implementing energy conservation programme efficiently in the state during the year 2011. While stating this at Chandigarh on Monday, a spokesman of Renewable Energy Department said that the award would be given away on the occasion of national energy conservation day function to be organised at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on December 14. The function would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh., Director General, Renewable Energy Department and HAREDA Mr Arun Kumar would receive the prize on behalf of the state. Haryana is one of the leading states in implementation of energy conservation programme and it has already been awarded national awards for the year 2008, 2009 and 2010 for energy conservation.
