Hartal called by Left parties, BJP in protest against petrol price hike affects life in Kerala

In Kerala, normal life was thrown out of gear following a dawn to dusk hartal called by the Left parties and the BJP in protest against petrol price hike. Shops and business establishments remain closed and public transport vehicles off the road. Only two wheelers and a few private vehicles were seen plying. Offices recorded thin attendance. In the industrial belt of Kochi, the hartal did not affect the functioning of the Public Sector Undertakings and the Cochin Port. However, movement goods to and from the port was completely paralysed.No untoward incident has been reported from any part of the state so far, except some stray incidents of stone throwing at State Road Transport Corporation buses. Supporters of the hartal held demonstations at a few places.
