Hartal affects normal life in Kerala

In Kerala, the dawn to dusk hartal held by CPIM led LDF and BJP separately against petrol price hike affected normal life across the state on Monday. Public transport buses, taxies and three wheelers remained off the road. Hartal supporters attacked convoy services in many places destroying public property. Shops remained closed. Universities and state public service commission cancelled examinations due to the hartal.Educational institutions remained closed and government offices recorded thin attendance. Despite police assistance, several passengers were stranded at railway stations and airports till six in the evening. Both LDF and BJP leaders conducted March in the state capital protesting against escalation in petroleum price.
