Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan today launched an immunisation campaign from Bihar to check the menace of encephalitis. The Minister launched this afternoon the two day immunisation drive at Kanti village in Muzzafarpur district, worst affected by encephalitis.

Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that Central Government will provide all possible facilities and help to Bihar in controlling the encephalitis outbreak. He said that the priority is to ensure 100 percent immunisation of children in the states affected by Acute Encephalitis Syndrome.

The Minister also visited the affected areas and directed the district administration to ensure the primary health facilities in these areas. As per the official records, acute encephalitis syndrome has claimed more than 130 lives of children in 10 districts of Bihar so far.
