India's Harpreet Singh has won a bronze in Greco-Roman weight divisions at the Asian Wrestling Championship, which commenced in New Delhi today. Harpreet beat his rival Jun Ji Na of China in 80 kg category. Harpreet had reached the bronze medal round when his Korean opponent June- Hyoung Kim, who had beaten him in the quarterfinal, entered the gold medal round.However, Gurpreet Singh, who had earlier today entered the bronze medal play-off round of Greco-Roman weight divisions, later lost to Chinese Wrestler Bin Yang in the 71 Kg category. Earlier, it was curtains for the other three Indian Greco-Roman wrestlers — Ravinder, Hardeep and Naveen in 66kg, 98kg and 130kg category respectively. India had bagged 9 medals – 1 Gold, 3 Silver and 5 Bronze – in the last edition of the tournament held in Bangkok last year. In the competition, 112 freestyle, 103 Greco-Roman and 83 female wrestlers are vying for 24 Gold and Silver, and 48 bronze medals. All India Radio, Delhi has made arrangements to broadcast 3 to 5 minute updates of the Championship till 14th of this month. It can be heard on FM Rainbow networks during day and in the evening. AIR will also broadcast a 15 minute Radio Report on the Championship on Monday, the 15th of May from 10.00 p.m. to 10.15 p.m. on Rajdhani and FM Rainbow channels.
