The internationally acclaimed Shree Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan is starting at Shri Devi Talab Mandir in Jalandhar, from today. The 134th sammelan, which will conclude on December 27th will regale its music lover audience with the performances of many nationally renowned artists in various musical fields.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent Rajesh Bali reports from Jalandhar that the prominent performers this time include renowned vocalist Smt. Girija Devi, Grammy Award Winner Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhat, Legendry Flute player Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s Disciple and nephew- Sh. Rakesh Chaurasia and many others. Ustad Hashamat Ali Khan’s family including two sons and a grandson’s ‘Jugalbandi’ and Sarod Vaadan, which will be performed today will be a treat for all mucis lovers.Smt. Girija Devi ji, for her contribution in the Indian Classcial Music, will be conferred with ‘Life Time Achievement Award’ on the day of her performance on December 27th.Two instruments, Sur Shringar Vaadan and Taus by Sh. Joydeep Ghosh and Sh. Ranbir Singh, respectively are the new aditions introduced for the fist time in the sammelan.This annual extraveganca of classical music was started by Baba Harivallabh in memory of his Guru Baba Tuljagiri ji in 1875 as homage on his first death anniversary. The tradition was carried on by Shree Baba harivallabh Sangeet Mahasabha even after the death of Baba Harivallabh in 1885.<br/><br/><br/>
