The Chairman of the Nation Atomic Energy Commission, Dr. Anil Kakodkar has said that land in the East Midnapore District of West Bengal will acquired for the proposed Haripur Atomic Energy Plant, after discussions with the local populace. He was talking to newspersons after inaugurating a meet on DAE Safety and Occupational Health Professional at the Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre in Kolkata today. He said, the site selection committee had given green signal to the project in the coastal district. Dr. Kakodkar said that initially two Atomic Power Plants would constructed in the area and later four more Power Plants will be set up, all with a capacity one thousand Mega Watts each. He said for the purpose an area with a radius of two kilometers will be needed.<br/>
