Wrestler Hardeep Singh scripted history as he became first Indian grappler in twelve years to book an Olympic berth in Greco-Roman category.Hardeep secured the 'Rio' berth even before he won the silver medal, by virtue of reaching the final in the 98 kg category in the Asian Olympic Qualification Championship at Astana, Kazakhstan.This is the first time an Indian Greco-Roman grappler has ensured a place in the Olympics in a heavyweight category.Last Indian Greco-Roman wrestler to secure an Olympic berth was Mausam Khatri in 2004 Athens Games.Overall, three Indian wrestlers have so far qualified for the Olympics – two – Yogeshwra Dutt and Narsingh Yadav – in men's freestyle and one in greco-roman.
