Hardeep Singh Puri responds to a query, says if 'Smart City 2' proposal comes then Maharashtra government to consider Shirdi

Housing and Urban Affairs minister Hardeep Singh Puri said Smart City may not be the only way the infrastructure of a city may be attended to. He said Scheme of 100 smart cities was closed. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Mr Puri regretted that Shirdi was never included in the smart city proposal. We would be very happy whenever Smart City 2 comes up and if at that time Maharashtra government were to recommend it as one of the cities responds Hardeep Singh Puri to a question regarding the allocation of Shirdi as a Smart City.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">The minister said, in 2011 census, Shirdi was put under Amrut as a holy city and all steps were taken. Mr. Puri said, if additional steps are needed, the ministry is happy to consider them. He said, Shirdi city was not a part of the initial shortlist prepared by the Maharashtra government. The minister informed the House that Smart Cities Mission is aimed at creating replicable models in the 100 smart cities which can act as lighthouses for other aspiring cities of the country.</span><br />
