Harbhajan moves to 7th position in ICC Test bowlers Rankings

India's Harbhajan Singh has moved one place up in the Player Rankings for Test bowlers following the drawn third and final Test against India at Dominica. According to a statement of ICC issued in Dubai today, Harbhajan has reached seventh position after a successful match, claiming figures of 57 overs 21 maiden 101 runs and 6 wickets and in the process passed the 400-wicket mark. His ascension to seventh has seen team-mate and the man of the series, Ishant Sharma, drop one place to eighth in the rankings. Another Indian bowler Praveen Kumar has broken into the top 50 for the first time. He walked away with four wickets in the final Test and is now ranked 42nd. West Indies fast bowler Fidel Edwards has achieved his career-best ranking in the Reliance ICC Player Rankings for Test bowlers following the drawn third and final Test against India at Dominica. He has gained two places to 16th position in the latest rankings. Dale Steyn of South Africa still leading the bowler list. Jacques Kallis of South Africa still leading the batsmen list followed by Sachin Tendulkar. Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir and Tendulkar, who did not play in the West Indies series, have fallen back because a player loses one per cent of his ratings points for every Test he misses. Despite winning the series and continuing with number-one position, India has lost two ratings points in the latest ratings points due to the fact that it drew two matches of the three-Test series against a side that was ranked 42 points and six places below it.
