"Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" drive under Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed by 2024, says DG of National Centre for Good Governance

<span style="color: #222222;">Director General of the National Centre for Good Governance, Bharat Lal has said that the "Har Ghar Nal Se Jal" drive under Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed by 2024 as it is being implemented in a unique bottom-up and decentralised approach by mobilising over five lakh Paani Samitis or Village Water and Sanitation Committees to manage and operate village water supply infrastructure.<br />''<br />''He was addressing a Conference on "Water Security for high Economic Growth and Prosperity at the 14th South Asia Conference on Think20@G20 in New Delhi today. The event was organised by Manohar Parrikar Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses.<br />''<br />''Highlighting the progress the drive has attained in the last few years, Mr Lal added that in August 2019, out of about 19 crore 35 lakh rural households, only three crore 23 lakh had access to tap water, but today over 11 crore rural households have tap water supply in their households.<br />''<br />''He said, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a call that not a single household should be left out of this noble Mission, the scheme is being implemented in a very democratic manner to achieve 100 per cent saturation of tap water connection without any discrimination whether it is a tribal area or a remote forest area.</span><br />
