Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir reviewed the working of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) yesterday and directed officials to strictly enforce provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. <br/><br/>He was informed that NCB and other agencies have destroyed a total of 6,512 acres of opium (Afeem) and 6,565 acres of marijuana (Ganja) this year. Mr Ahir said, it is the duty of all law enforcement officials and elected representatives right down to the Gram Panch and Sarpanch at the village level to notify any illegal cultivation of the regulated crops. The Minister directed NCB to initiate action against erring officials and Panchayat members where illegal cultivation is reported.
