NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rassmussen has said he expects the alliance to begin handing over control of parts of Afghanistan to the Afghan people later this year where conditions allow. <br/><br/>He was speaking at a meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers. He said the transition has to be sustainable and irreversible.<br/>Decisions will be made on a case by case basis and it will be a gradual process. But he said that the Afghan security forces will need our supportive assistance for quite some time.<br/>
