Hamid Ansari: Adjournments primary cause for delays in justice delivery

Vice President Hamid Ansari has said that, excessive adjournments are the primary cause for delays in justice delivery. Inaugurating the 150th year celebrations of the Calcutta High Court in Kolkata this evening he expressed serious concern over the pendency of cases in different courts in the country.

The Vice President appealed to all concerned to say no to excessive adjournments, no to long oral arguments by counsels, and no to delay in filling up vacancies of judges for speedy delivery of justice. He also stressed on stremlining of judicial process and procedures.

Union minister for Law and Justice Salman Khursid underlined for ensuring justice for all at affordable cost and to work with specific goal to reduce pending cases. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, State Governor M K Narayanan, Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court Justice J N Patel and other distingusied persons also spoke on the occasion.
