Former Karnataka Minister Haratala Halappa who is embroiled in an alleged sex scam involving the wife of his friend Venkatesh Murthy, moved application seeking anticipatory bail in a Shimoga court today. Mr. Halappa's advocate Ashok G Bhat has filed a bail application in the District Session's Court in Shimoga, about 280 km from Bangalore . In his application the legislator from Sorab denied all charges leveled against him by Venkatesh Murthy and his wife. Halappa has questioned the authenticity of the video footage taken using a cell phone by Venkatesh Murthy. District Sessions Judge Shivannagowdar has accepted the plea and has posted the hearing to May 11. Venkatesh Murthy’s wife had alleged that the former minister had raped her on November 27 last year when he, being a family friend, had visited her house and stayed overnight. Meanwhile, Home Minister Dr V S Acharya, speaking from Mangalore, rejected the opposition demand for a CBI inquiry. "The case does not demand a CBI probe. The state CID is capable of bringing out the truth and the government will not interfere in the case at any stage," he said.<br/>
