The President of Haiti Rene Preval has supported the idea of a UN sponsored international humanitarian force so that there could be a faster global response to the disasters like the earthquake which struck his country in January. He was speaking after meeting President Barack Obama at the White House. Mr Obama described the situation in Haiti as dire.
