Harishankar Bramha has been appointed as new Chief Election Commissioner of India. He will take over the charge tomorrow from V S Sampath who demitted office today. Presently, Mr Brahma is the senior most Election Commissioner. A 1975 IAS officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre Mr. Bramha hails from Assam.
